Painted Rock Petroglyph Campground - Gila Bend, AZ

The Painted Rock Petroglyph Campground is a beautiful place for one night. At only $8 per night it's a bargain, and thousands of petroglyphs within a very short walking distance.

Vulture Peak Camp - Wickenburg, AZ

The Vulture Mountains are a 29-mile long, arid, low-elevation mountain range located in northwest Maricopa County. It is in the north perimeter region of the Sonoran Desert. This is my new REI Passage 1 tent.

 

Powell Springs Campground - Prescott National Forest

This is a very nice free campground with 11 campsites. This historic campground was built by the CCC. 

Bouse Community Park - Bouse, AZ

The Bouse Community Park is a nice little place to camp. The unincorporated community of Bouse was founded in 1908 as a mining camp. It is located on highway 72 in west-central Arizona, 29 miles from the Arizona and California border.

Southern Desert Horned Lizard - Joshua Tree National Park

The southern desert horned lizard is found in sandy flats and canyon bottoms.

Alamo Canyon Campground - Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument

The primitive Alamo Canyon Campground is a beautiful place to camp. There are only 4 established sites here.

Saddle Mountain Dispersed Camping BLM - Tonopah, AZ

 This is a great area for camping and hiking.

Vulture Peak Camp - Wickenburg, AZ

Vulture Peak - Wickenburg, AZ

My first hike up to the 3,660 foot summit of Vulture Peak. It is about 3.8 miles round-trip from the trailhead with 1,302 feet of elevation gain.
