Caving - Coconino National Forest

This cave is located on the Mogollon Rim near Payson. The Rim is the geologic boundary between the Colorado Plateau to the north and the Transition Ranges of central Arizona to the south. We spent about 2.5 hours in the cave.

Campsite - Mogollon Rim

I camped here on Old Rim Road 171 about one mile south of the Mogollon Rim Visitor Center. The Mogollon Rim extends over 200 miles across central Arizona. This is the second largest geologic feature in Arizona. The Rim is the geologic boundary between the Colorado Plateau to the north and the Transition Ranges of central Arizona to the south.

Caving - Coconino National Forest

This was my second time visiting this cave. The entrance is at 7,300 feet elevation. We entered the cave at about 10 AM, and exited the cave about 2:30 PM.

Deadman's Dome (Peak 6027) - Sedona

I started at the Boynton Canyon Trailhead and followed that to Deadman's Pass Trail. After hiking 1.2 miles, I followed a series of social trails from Deadman's Pass Trail to the summit of Deadman's Dome. After hiking 1.9 miles in 1 hour and 10 minutes, I reached the class 3 climb up to the rock fin. On the top, I followed the slick rock around Deadman's Pocket. At 2.5 miles I began the ascent up Deadman's Dome from the south, and then stood on the 6,027-foot summit at 11:17 AM. At this point I was 2.8 miles from the trailhead, and it had taken me 3 hours and 32 minutes. After resting and taking photos I headed back down at 12:29 PM. At 2:25 PM I was back at Deadman's Pass. Then it was an easy hike back to the trailhead, and my mini van. I arrived at my vehicle at 2:57 PM. My round-trip hike was 5.4 miles, and it took me 6 hours and 53 minutes. I was exhausted.
