Black Cross Butte - Superstition Mountains

The temperatures were in the low 80s this morning so I headed out to Black Cross Butte. I had decided to do the 2 mile loop hike to the top of the butte. It's been nineteen days since I got stung by stingray, and I'm back to hiking in the desert again. Although, my ankle is still sore, I can now do a short and hard hike.

I began my hike at 9:41 AM.  After 18 minutes I had climbed up to the first bench. From there it was 11 minutes to the second bench. Then another climb took me up to the third bench. That took 18 minutes.  I was on the summit at 11:04 AM, and I was 0.9 miles from my car. My hike was a 2.1 mile loop, and it took me 2 hours and 11 minutes. This time was longer than usual because I did a lot of photography.

Black Cross Butte - Superstition Mountains

Black Cross Butte is one of my favorite short hikes. My 2 mile loop hike took me 1 hour and 36 minutes. The summit is 3,351 feet.
