Boynton Canyon - Sedona, AZ

I got a late start on the trail in Boynton Canyon, because I waited to see if it would rain. The sun began to come out and so I started 9:10am. This time I followed the ledge beyond the Kachina Tree Cave. I also got stung on the leg by a paper wasp while I was taking a photo. That hurt for a little while. It was a beautiful 4.8 mile hike and it took me 3 hours and 50 minutes.

Fay Canyon - Sedona, AZ

I hiked 4.8 miles round trip on the western ledge of Fay Canyon in Sedona. Very few people know that there is a trail up here, and I didn't see anybody. It took me 4 hours and 50 minutes. I did a lot of wandering about. I started by hiking up the Bear Mountain Trail. The social trail begins at 0.6 of a mile and took me 26 minutes to reach it. From there I reached the dry wash in 1.8 miles, and it took 1 hour and 15 minutes. I ended my hike part way into the west fork of Fay Canyon at 2.2 miles, and that took 2 hours and 16 minutes with a side trip up to Mystery Cave. On the way back I climbed down to Sunrise Ledge.

At 0.6 of a mile is the social trail on the right.

The social trail connects with the Bear Mountain Trail.

Stairway to Heaven - Sedona, AZ

I hiked a challenging social trail in the Coconino National Forest called the Stairway to Heaven which leads to incredible views. It was 5.8 miles round trip, and took me 5 hours and 12 minutes. At first, I had trouble finding the trail.  The trail from the parking lot to the top was 2.3 miles, and took me 1 hour and 52 minutes. Then it was a little more than a half mile hike to the overlook.

My 5.8 mile hike. The waypoint marks the start of the social trail.
