Picketpost Mountain - Tonto National Forest

This was my first summer hike up Picketpost Mountain. When I started at 9:23 AM, it was 88°.  I reached the 4,378-foot summit in 2 hours and 11 minutes. I headed back down at 12:10 PM, and was back at my car at 1:48 PM.  It was 93°. My hike was 4.4 miles round-trip, and it took me 4 hours and 26 minutes.

This was my fifth hike up to the 4,378-foot summit of Picketpost Mountain. My hike was 4.4 miles round-trip, and it took. me 3 hours and 43 minutes. The mountain is composed entirely of volcanic rocks, which include rhyolitic lava, tuff, and lava flows of quartz latite composition.

Picketpost Mountain is composed of entirely volcanic rocks, which include rhyolitic lava, water-laid and air-fall tuff, and both vent rocks and lava flows of quartz latite composition.
