Daisy Mountain - Anthem, AZ

I hiked up Daisy Mountain to the 3,176 foot summit. The mountain has 1,046 feet of prominence. The ascent was 1,347 feet and 8.7 miles round trip from the Anthem Community Park. I started at 10am and the hike took me 4.5 hours. Next time I'll try and park near the trailhead.

I had put off this hike for a while since it's in the north suburbs of Phoenix, and legal street parking is very limited, but despite starting in suburbia, it is a really nice hike.

Broadway Cave - Superstition Mountains

After a delicious Thanksgiving meal at my sister's home in Apache Junction, we went for a nice hike up to Broadway Cave.

Battlement Mesa - Sedona

This was a fun quick hike up Battlement Mesa that left the busy Twin Buttes Trail behind. It was 2.4 miles round trip and took me 2.5 hours from the Broken Arrow Trailhead. Battlement Mesa is one of a series of mafic dikes throughout Sedona, feeding ancient volcanic activity 12 to 8 million years ago as part of the North Verde Volcanic Field.

Saddleback Mountain - Maricopa County

 I hiked 4.7 miles round trip to the 2,363 foot summit of Saddleback Mountain. It took me 3.5 hours.

This was a hard 2 miles round trip that took me 3 hours. It was one mile one way to reach the North Peak summit at 5,246 feet, and it took me 1.5 hours.
