I started my hike at 10:07 AM. After a 2.5 mile hike along the Salt River I entered a wash that goes up Gateway Canyon. From there it took me 1 hour and 5 minutes to reach the high country of the Goldfields. It was 12:15 PM, and I took a half hour break. I was now 4 miles from my car. Then I hiked 0.8 miles to an incredible overlook. I had been hiking for 3 hours and 23 minutes. It was 1:25 PM, and I decided to explore no farther. At 1:38 PM, I headed back. I reached the Salt River floodplain 3:00 PM. Then it was a 1 hour and 7 minute hike back to my car. I finished at 4:07 PM. My hike was 9.4 miles round-trip, and it took me 6 hours.
