Puerto Peñasco (Rocky Point) - Mexico

It was 94° in Puerto Peñasco, and the sea temperature was 84°. The ocean was much too warm to be refreshing and it was too hot to sit on the beach. Regardless, I spent the morning swimming at Sandy Beach, and most of the afternoon in the ocean at Playa Hermosa.

This cave is located in the Tonto National Forest near the East Verde River, and the Water Wheel Recreation Area. The cave entrance is at 5,312 feet elevation.

Pass Mountain - Tonto National Forest

At sunset I hiked up Pass Mountain. I started at 5:19 PM, and it was 97°.  After 1 hour and 29 minutes I had reached the 3,304-foot summit. It was 6:49 PM. At 7:15 PM I headed back down. I was back at my car at 8:17 PM. My 3.7 mile round-trip hike was 2 hours and 56 minutes.

Picketpost Mountain - Tonto National Forest

This was my first summer hike up Picketpost Mountain. When I started at 9:23 AM, it was 88°.  I reached the 4,378-foot summit in 2 hours and 11 minutes. I headed back down at 12:10 PM, and was back at my car at 1:48 PM.  It was 93°. My hike was 4.4 miles round-trip, and it took me 4 hours and 26 minutes.
