Flattop Trail - Eager, AZ

The Flattop Trail is located in the Murray Basin. The gentle trail climbs a beautiful flat mesa, which provides sweeping vistas of Eager, Springerville, and Round Valley.

Cosmic Campground - New Mexico

The Cosmic Campground is located in the Gila National Forest, and is an International Dark Sky Sanctuary. I camped here on my way to a new start in Arizona.  That is my Honda Civic. 

Water Canyon Campground - New Mexico

Water Canyon Campground is located in the Cibola National Forest at 6,800 feet elevation in the Magdalena Mountains. I was back on my way to Arizona, for a second time. I had to return to Illinois because of neck problems, and needed to see my doctor. Finally, I was in the southwest again.

Sunset crater is a cinder cone within Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument. Recent geologic and archeological evidence places the eruption around AD 1085.

Boynton Canyon - Sedona, AZ

Unfortunately the trail begins by skirting a luxury resort. I baffles me as to why they allowed this sprawling resort to be recently built in the mouth of a beautiful canyon. However, it is one of the most scenic box canyons in Sedona.
