Tanner Trail - Grand Canyon National Park

The historic Tanner Trail is the primary access for hikers into the eastern Grand Canyon. It ranks as one of the most difficult and demanding developed trails in the park. Dave McGowan, Mike O'Leary, and I, hiked 2.8 miles round-trip to 1,634 feet below the rim. We started at 12:12 PM, and the hike took us 3 hours and 33 minutes.

Kendrick Peak - Coconino National Forest

Kendrick Peak is a silicic lava dome, indicating that its eruptions involved viscous rather than fluid flows. It is 10,418 feet high. The eruptions occurred between about 2.7 and 1.4 million years ago. It is primarily composed of dacite and rhyolite flows.

At 10:53 AM, my friends Dave McGowan and Mike O'Leary, and I hiked 9.2 miles round-trip to the summit. It took us 2 hours and 22 minutes to reach the summit. The entire hike took us 4 hours and 47 minutes.

My good friends Dave McGowan and Mike O'Leary were on a road-trip from Los Angeles to Chicago. They stopped in Arizona to visit me on their way home.

Mojave Desert - California

After leaving Death Valley National Park, I drove state highway 127 south from Shoshone to Baker. The highway passes through diverse landscapes, including deserts, mountains, and valleys, offering scenic views along the way. It is commonly known as Death Valley Road.
