Lower First Water Creek - Superstition Mountains

I began my hike at 3:37 PM. It was 1.9 miles round trip, and it took me 1 hour and 13 minutes. Canyon Lake is currently lowered by 54 feet as part of a 16-week maintenance and inspection project of Mormon Flat Dam and Horse Mesa Dam.

First Water Creek forms one of the major drainages entering Canyon Lake from the Superstition Mountains. The lower canyon offers an unusual combination of desert scrambling, seasonal swimming, lake influenced canyon exploration, and rugged volcanic scenery.

Fish Creek Vista - Superstition Mountains

I began my 1.9 mile round-trip hike at 2:36 PM. It took me 50 minutes to reach the end of Fish Creek Vista. The entire hike took me 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Cave Trail to Bluff Spring Trail - Superstition Mountains

I began my 6 mile loop hike at 10:24 AM at the Peralta Trailhead. This was the first time I went clockwise by going up the Cave Trail. After hiking 25 minutes on the Bluff Spring Trail I reached the Cave Trail. The ascent was 490 feet. From there I hiked 2.1 miles to the Lone Tree overlook of Weaver's Needle. The Cave Trail to the overlook took me 1 hour and 52 minutes. The ascent from the trailhead was 1,388 feet. After a 22 minute break I headed a short distance back to the unmaintained connection trail to Bluff Spring Trail. I arrived there at 1:03 PM. The connection trail was 1.4 miles, and difficult to follow. The rock cairns helped a lot. That took 1 hour and 27 minutes. Then it was a 1.6 mile hike back to my mini van. I got there at 3:21 PM. My hike took me 4 hours and 56 minutes.

Temptation Peak - Goldfield Mountains

Temptation Peak itself requires class 3 moves with exposure to get up and down. I began my 3.9 mile round-trip hike at 10:40 AM, when it was about 94 degrees. I reached Peak 3157 in 1 hour and 30 minutes. Then it took me another hour to reach the 3,195-foot summit of Temptation Peak. The hike was unusually long because I was constantly out of breath. It took me 5 hours and 26 minutes.
