Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge - Georgia

On March 12, 2016, I started a 3 day solo canoe trip in the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. I spent the first night on Floyd's Island in the historic Hebard Cabin, and the second night on a raised platform in the swamp. The swamp is an amazing place day and night, and is one of the most memorable canoe trips I have ever done. Although, it is very difficult and exhausting to paddle a canoe solo through a swamp, because there is no current, and I often got stuck or the wind would turn my canoe around. Sometimes I averaged one mile per hour.
