This was my third time to the summit of Picketpost Mountain. It was 2.3 miles to the top, and it took me 2 hours and 15 minutes to get up there. The elevation gain is 2,070 feet. To reach the unmaintained trail to the summit I followed the Arizona Trail for 5.5 miles which took 12 minutes.
Picketpost Mountain is composed of entirely volcanic rocks, which include rhyolitic lava, water-laid and air-fall tuff, and both vent rocks and lava flows of quartz latite composition.
