I
did this 7.5 mile off-trail loop at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. First I walked up Alamo Canyon on the
established trail, then hiked off-trail up the North Fork of Alamo
Canyon, and then to the east branch. From there I climbed up a side
drainage to the divide between Alamo and Grass Canyons. Then I descended
to the desert floor through Grass Canyon. Then a long walk back to my
car after crossing many arroyos. The loop took me 8 hours. All the
bouldering and climbing was exhausting.
