I hiked up Piestewa Peak in the early afternoon before the high winds came. The hike is 2.2 miles round trip to the 2,608 foot summit with 1,112 feet of elevation gain. It's a very steep trail but not difficult. It took me 2 hours. The mountain is primarily composed of schist, quartzite, and quartz.
This is an urban hike located in the Phoenix Mountains Preserve. Although, many people were on the trail it is still enjoyable, and a good workout.
